Recycling old Cell Phones

As a general rule, we are not the most environmentally friendly nation; but we are making progress.  One area that we could see tremendous benefit from increased recycling: our old cell phones.  How do we go about recycling them, and where do we take them?

There are some states that have passed regulation concerning recycling of old cell phones, and there are some wireless providers who have simply taken it upon themselves to provide the service free.  Whatever your situation, if the opportunity to recycle is free, take advantage.

There is also the option to donate old cell phones to local charities; they can then use them for their charitable organization, and you have received a deduction for a charitable contribution.

Regardless of your choice in recycling, recycling is the most environmentally friendly choice, and prevents us from accumulating a clutter of cell phones.  Thanks to the technology used today in cell phones, you can offer up your old phone for recycling, and retain the SIM card that has all of your private information, thereby preventing another person from accessing any potentially personal information.

Recycling Old Cell Phones Saves Energy

Of course, we can talk about the fact that recycling saves energy, saves resources, and provides the person recycling with the opportunity to do something good for the environment; but those are things that every recycling program accomplishes.   Let’s talk instead of the opportunity that recycling your old cell phone brings to a charitable organization: there are many individuals who can potentially benefit through these charitable organizations, thanks to your donation.

So, clean up all the clutter from your journey down the cell phone technology path, by now most of us have accumulated three or four old phones, if not more.  Recycle and give someone else the gift of gab!  A newly recycled cell phone!
